Shimla: BJP Legislators Party meeting convened here today which was presided over by the Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur.
The meeting, attended by MLAs including Satpal Singh Satti, Vikram Thakur, and Sukhram Chaudhary, witnessed discussions on a spectrum of issues, with particular emphasis on the impending budget session.
State spokesperson and MLA, Rakesh Jamwal declared that the Bharatiya Janata Party would adopt an assertive stance during the upcoming budget session.
The bone of contention lies in the actions of the present government, led by Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, which, during the previous BJP-led tenure under Jairam Thakur, reportedly denotified numerous institutions and offices within a single financial year.
Jamwal accused the current administration of mimicking this practice by opening offices and making announcements, mirroring the actions it criticized in the past.
Jamwal further questioned the government's commitment to disaster relief, alleging discrimination and irregularities in the distribution of compensation. The MLA asserted that during the budget session, the BJP would rigorously question the Chief Minister on the cancellation of institutions during their governance and demand accountability.
The legislative party meeting delved into discussions about the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, with a strategic focus on securing victories in all four seats within the state.
Jamwal underscored the party's commitment to an aggressive stance in the assembly session, vowing to corner the state government on issues ranging from denotification of institutions to alleged discrepancies in relief distribution.
Highlighting a contentious point, Jamwal revealed that the present government had initially withheld the last installment to the legislature party. However, swift action ensued when Jairam Thakur raised the issue, prompting the government to sign the file and release the pending funds on the same night.
The BJP legislators emerged from the meeting with a palpable determination, signaling their intent to confront the state government head-on during the budget session, setting the stage for a charged political showdown in the assembly.
