PCC Meeting at Rajeev Bhawan in Shimla

SHIMLA:  Himachal Pradesh Congress President and Mandi Lok Sabha  MP Pratibha Singh has asked the Manifesto Committee of Shimla Municipal Corporation to seek suggestions from the local people for the improvement and expansion of basic facilities in the capital city, which have been in mess under the BJP-ruled corporation for the last five years.

Chairing the Manifesto committee meeting of the Congress leaders  at Rajeev Bhawan here today Pratibha Singh said the committee would  give top priority to the roads, parking, drinking water and sanitation facilities in the city which cry for improvement and expansion.

The residents are suffering as these civic amenities are in bad shape under the present BJP-ruled Shimla Municipal corporation, she said.

The meeting was attended by senior leader Harsh Mahajan, district president Yashwant Singh Chajta, Shimla rural MLA Vikramaditya Singh, Kasumpti MLA Anirudh Singh, councillors and other leaders.

Pratibha Singh said the main objective of Congress is to make people free from this trouble. At present, the BJP-ruled Municipal Corporation has completely failed to fulfil the aspirations of the people, she claimed.

Taking a dig at the BJP, Pratibha Singh charged that due to lack of proper coordination between the Mayor of Shimla Municipal Corporation and the government, people have to bear the brunt of it.

“The maps of the houses were not passed or regularised. Now seeing the elections ahead, the BJP government is making all efforts to woo the people, she said.

Pratibha Singh said the manifesto of the party should be made according to the aspirations of the people, which we can fulfil. The committee would finalise the manifesto soon, she said.
