The APL has come as an electrifying experience for all the winter sports lovers across the nation , but also for the winter tourists that in turn will give a big boost to the revival of the slack tourism industry hit by the ongoing Corona Pandemic.

The second Alpine Premier League is being organised by  Baragarh Resort and Spa Manali in association with the Ski Himalayas, Solang  from 31st January  to 1st February 2022 at the Solanh ski resort in the snowy  backdrop of the Mighty Rohtang Range.

APL Convenor and owner Baragarh Resort and Spa,  Nakul Khullar and MD, Ski Himalaya  said there is a lot of enthusiasm among the skiers and local youths and tourism promotes.  The young and sub-juniors and veterans will be taking part in the various skiing  competitions. The various local clubs NAG, Solang, sports club Palchan and others are also participating in the programme, they said.

The skiing has come a long way in the Kullu Manali and Narkanda ski resorts,  even as the resorts lack snow beating machines and ski or gondola lifts on the slopes. Himachal, however, has produced national and international level skiers, who have made their mark on the world ski map over the years.

Nakul Khullar said more than 150 skiers from across the country are taking part in 10 different categories of skiing this time. The APl has kept 10 slots the men and women above 18 years, Juniors less than 18 and sub-juniors less than 13 years in age in both boys and girls. The ski veterans above 50 years and above will also compete in the giant slalom event.

The skiers will compete for the cash prizes in giant slaloms, snow board downhill, men’s and women’s  cross country 5 km race during the two days long APL event.

The  top three  winners  will be getting an attractive array of 31 cash prizes ranging from Rs 20, 000 to Rs 2000  in these 10 categories. There are 31 cash prizes for the first top three winners, said the APL organisers.

"We are following all Covid guidelines and the winter sports rules notified by the government during the APL programme", said the organisers.
