New Delhi: India’s power market is on the brink of major growth, with industry voices rallying for more transparency and competition to meet the country’s rising energy demands.
This call to action was highlighted at a seminar organized by SJVN on “Indian Power Market – A Way Forward,” held today at the SCOPE Convention Centre in New Delhi.
The event featured Sh. Arun Goyal, former Member of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC), as the Chief Guest. SJVN’s Director (Finance) Sh. Akhileshwar Singh and Director (Personnel) Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma were also present.
Sh. Arun Goyal expressed optimism about the future of India’s power sector. “India’s power market is entering an era of immense potential,” he said.
He praised companies like SJVN for promoting collaboration in the sector, adding, “With partnerships, innovative solutions, and a commitment to sustainability, we can build a market that supports our growing economy.”
Sh. Akhileshwar Singh discussed SJVN’s evolving role in power trading.
“In January 2022, SJVN was awarded the Category-I Trading License, allowing us to start power trading operations,” he said.
He emphasized that SJVN has since focused on short-term, medium-term, and long-term contracts, catering to a wide range of clients across India.
“SJVN is committed to India’s vision of efficient, economical, and sustainable energy,” Singh added, noting the company’s strides in becoming a major player in power trading.
Speaking about SJVN’s sustainability goals, Sh. Ajay Kumar Sharma stated, “Our mission is to provide sustainable, reliable, and affordable power to millions across India.”
He highlighted that SJVN’s trading operations align with its broader commitment to responsible energy development.
The seminar provided a platform for in-depth discussions on India’s power market dynamics.
Industry experts delivered presentations on regulatory updates and innovations shaping the sector.
“The General Network Access(GNA) framework is crucial in strengthening transmission infrastructure,” noted one speaker, explaining that the framework aims to ensure equitable access to power transmission networks nationwide.
The seminar underscored the importance of a transparent and competitive power market to support India’s energy goals.
