SHIMLA: June 29, 2025 | Time: 1:00 PM IST
The monsoon is in full swing across Himachal Pradesh, and the skies are pouring with little relief. In the past 24 hours, districts like Mandi, Solan, Bilaspur, Kangra, Shimla, and Sirmaur have witnessed intense rainfall.
Jogindernagar and Kasauli recorded the highest rainfall at 13 cm each, while Shimla and Kufri followed with 9 cm.
Temperature Update:
Minimum temperature dipped to 14.3°C at Kukumseri, while Una was the hottest at 35.2°C. However, districts like Kullu, Kinnaur, Chamba, and Lahaul-Spiti recorded temperatures 2–5°C above normal. The Met Department predicts a 3–4°C drop in daytime temperatures and a 2–3°C drop at night over the next 24 hours, followed by a gradual rise.
Weather Alert from IMD:
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected across most parts of the state on June 29 and 30, with continued rainfall from July 1 to 5, though slightly less intense. Districts such as Kullu, Mandi, Kangra, Shimla, Sirmaur, and Solan are likely to be most impacted.
Advisory for Farmers:
Waterlogging in fields can damage standing crops—ensure drainage systems are clear.
Avoid spraying pesticides or irrigation during heavy rainfall spells.
Hail or excessive wetness may harm apple crops and other fruits—take precautions.
Keep watch on rivulets and natural drains around fields to avoid overflow damage.
Tourist Advisory:
Popular destinations like Shimla, Manali, Dharamshala, and Kasauli may experience slippery roads, fog, and possible landslides.
Avoid trekking, camping, or venturing near rivers and waterfalls during or after rain.
Monitor local weather updates and follow advisories from district authorities.
Sudden rise in water levels in streams is highly likely—exercise extreme caution.
Thunderstorm & Lightning Safety:
Stay indoors during lightning or storm activity.
Avoid sheltering under trees or standing near electric poles.
Unplug electronic items and stay away from metal structures and water bodies.
Be Smart. Be Safe.
Rain is a blessing, but in excess, it becomes a threat. Farmers should protect their crops, and tourists are advised to delay travel plans if possible. The hills are beautiful—but fragile. Take warnings seriously and don't let adventure turn into adversity.
