Vice-President at TERI Summit in New Delhi

New Delhi– The Vice-President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, delivered a passionate call for global leadership in advancing environmental protection and climate justice at the World Sustainable Development Summit 2024, hosted at TERI in New Delhi today.

Highlighting India's commitment to balancing economic growth with ecological preservation, the Vice-President underscored the nation's role as a beacon of inspiration for nations worldwide.

In his address, he emphasized the interconnected nature of environmental challenges, stating that "the impact of our actions reverberates across nations, affecting the most vulnerable communities and ecosystems."

Addressing the pressing need for a transition to clean and renewable energy sources, the Vice-President lauded India's dedication to mitigating climate change while fostering economic growth, job creation, and technological innovation.

He emphasized that India's commitment to sustainable development is not mere rhetoric but evident in concrete actions and policies implemented.

Expressing grave concerns over the looming threat of climate change, the Vice-President stressed the importance of harmonizing economic progress with sustainable development to ensure a legacy that future generations can inherit with pride.

Despite the daunting challenges, he remained optimistic, advocating for collaboration, innovation, and international cooperation as key pathways to a sustainable and secure future for all.

The summit was attended by dignitaries including Brigadier (Retd) Mark Phillips, Prime Minister of Guyana, Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Nitin Desai, Chairman of The Energy and Resources Institute, Dr. Vibha Dhawan, Director-General of TERI, and Dr. Shailly Kedia, Curator of the World Sustainable Development Summit.
