Mob on the march in Purola in Uttarkashi i Uttarakhand

DEHRADUN- All eyes are on the upcoming Maha Panchayat in Purola town in Utttarkashi on June 15  after the  Mob Violence Erupted  there  over an Alleged "Love Jihad attempt involving individuals from different communities.

Agitated locals took the streets and targeted people from other community on what they termed  "Love Jihad" and forced conversions in Uttarakhand.

Local bodies of Hindu community have announced Maha Panchayat on June 15 to protest against these issues.

In response to the escalating violence, the police swiftly intervened by conducting a flag march in Purola to restore law and order and ensure the safety of the residents.

However, the unrest has resulted in local Muslim traders expressing their intentions to relocate to other areas, fearing for their security. They have reportedly been given an ultimatum to leave Purola by June 15.

Assuring the public of his commitment to maintaining peace and upholding the rule of law, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards instances of "Love Jihad" and anti-social elements spreading hatred and violence.

Meanwhile, local groups and traders have announced plans to hold a MahaPanchayat, a large public gathering, on June 15 to address the situation.

The mob violence in Purola has drawn strong condemnation from civil society groups in Dehradun, who are calling for the restoration of peace and tolerance in Uttarakhand.

The Inspector General of Police, Law and Order, Uttarakhand, issued a stern statement, vowing not to allow any disruption of law and order during the MahaPanchayat and declaring that those spreading hatred and inciting violence will not be tolerated.

On the other hand, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi took to Twitter to appeal for the protection and security of Muslims in Uttarakhand, criticizing the BJP government for the situation. Furthermore, residents in the Vikasnagar area expressed their agitation and demanded reassurances regarding their safety. Owaisi has sought ban on Mahapanchayat at Purola. 

IG said Superintendent of Police has been directed to address their concerns, ensure their security, and inform them about the security arrangements. The police have emphasized that any violations of the law will be dealt with firmly.

Efforts are underway to convene a peace meeting to restore calm and order in the region, with the district Superintendent of Police tasked with coordinating these efforts.

Authorities have emphasized that maintaining peace is of paramount importance, and all necessary measures, including effective communication and strict enforcement, will be implemented to ensure law and order and peace.
