SHIMLA:  BJP leaders today accused the Sukhu government of delaying the Monsoon sessions of the Vidhan Sabha, alleging that it fears the opposition and public scrutiny over its inadequate response to the calamity crisis.

The BJP's stance on the floods in Himachal Pradesh has brought the crisis to the forefront of political discussions, with the party holding the ruling government accountable for its alleged failure in effectively managing the disaster's aftermath.

BJP has upped  its ante against the Sukhu government at BJP Legislature Party meeting  held here today  chaired by Leader of Opposition, Jairam Thakur.

BJP meeting came after 22 days in the aftermath of the devastating floods and incessant rains that wreaked havoc in Himachal Pradesh from July 7 to July 12.

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has been doing the rounds of Delhi  seeking crucial funds for restoration of damaged roads, water schemes and other infrastructure, mitigating the miseries of the flood-hit victims in the state.

The  BJP meeting, which was attended by BJP Party President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, Organization General Secretary Siddharthan, and State General Secretary Bihari Lal Sharma, centered on discussing the extensive damage caused by the monsoon in the state and failure of the Sukhu government to handle the crisis post-flood.

BJP State Spokesperson and MLA Balbir Verma revealed that all the BJP MLAs presented detailed reports about the devastation caused by heavy rains and floods in their respective constituencies.

The natural disaster has left Himachal Pradesh grappling with loss of life, property, and widespread impact on families, with personal belongings of citizens being washed away.

BJP leaders claimed emphasized the urgency of addressing the crisis and sought to draw attention to the government's alleged inaction in providing relief and assistance.

While CM Sukhu has sought Rs 2000 crore from the Centre today,   BJP leaders expressed gratitude to the Government of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Minister Amit Shah, BJP Chief Jagat Prakash Nadda, and Nitin Gadkari for their support and financial aid to Himachal Pradesh during these challenging times.

Citing the unusual delay in convening the Vidhan Sabha session, the BJP accused the ruling government of attempting to stifle opposition and public dissent.

Typically held in August, the session's postponement has raised eyebrows and prompted criticism from the BJP, who see it as a move to avoid accountability for their handling of the disaster.

The meeting was attended by  BJP MLAs, including Vipin Parmar, Bikram Thakur, Randhir Sharma, Trilok Jamwal, Rakesh Jamwal, Hansraj, Vinod Kumar, Ranveer Singh, Balbir Verma, Prakash Rana, Pawan Kajal, Satpal Satti, Anil Sharma, Jeet Ram Katwal, Inder Singh Gandhi, Deep Raj, DS Thakur, Surender Shourie, Dilip Thakur, Puran Chand, Reena Kashyap, and Lokendra Singh.
