SHIMLA: In a upheaval within the corridors of power in Himachal Pradesh, the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has mounted an offensive against what they decry as the "erosion of democratic values within the state's legislative assembly".

Led by the opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur, the BJP cadre, emboldened by recent electoral victory in Rajya Sabha, has upped their ante against the Sukhu Government.

They successfully managed to  corner the disgruntle Congress  MLAs  and won the unexpected RajyaSabha seat.  Now the BJP on its way for a greater kill.

Jai Ram Thakur, flanked by a cohort of BJP MLAs, delivered a memorandum to the  Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla morning today. They urged him to restore the rules of assembly  so that  justice prevail within the chambers of the Vidhan Sabha.

At the heart of the BJP's crusade lies their demand for fair and transparent voting on critical cut motion.

The BJP contends that their attempts to exercise their democratic right to challenge the government's policies have been systematically stymied by an biased Speaker, whose actions they claim betray the principles of impartiality and fairness.

Thakur and his fellow BJP MLAs cited grievances, accusing the Speaker of violating democratic norms. They recounted instances where dissenting voices were silenced, and legitimate demands for voting were summarily dismissed.

BJP has called upon the Governor to intervene decisively, urging him to wield his constitutional authority to ensure that the Speaker allow voting on cut motions and finance Bill to be passed today.

They demand swift and resolute action against the Speaker for his partisan roles that  violate HP Constituent Assembly Rules.

With the BJP signaling its resolve to challenge the status quo and hold the ruling regime accountable, the stage is set for a showdown after Congress debacle in Rajya Sabha election yesterday in which the six Congress MLAs voted against Congress Singhvi.

The role of the Governor has come to the forefront now as the BJP would turn tables to destabilise the Sukhu government.
