CHANDIGARH: As the counting for the Haryana Assembly elections continues, the early trends are showcasing a fierce battle between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress.
As of the latest updates from the Election Commission of India (ECI), counting trends for both Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir assembly elections show significant developments:
Haryana Assembly Election 2024:
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leading, securing 40 seats so far.
Indian National Congress (INC) is performing strongly as well, with leads in 35 seats.
Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) is also a key player, currently ahead in 10 seats.
Independent candidates are holding ground, with 3 seats in contention.
Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini from BJP is leading in Ladwa, while Congress candidate Vinesh Phogat, a prominent figure from the wrestlers' protests, is ahead in Julana.
Notably, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is in a close contest in Garhi Sampla-Kiloi, trying to maintain a lead against BJP’s Manju Hooda.
The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) is leading in three constituencies, while Dushyant Chautala from JJP faces challenges in Uchana Kalan.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seems to be heading for a significant defeat, with no seats leading so far.
As of now, no party has reached the 46-seat majority mark, but the BJP's strategic move of bringing in Pawan Kalyan to rally the Hindu vote has strengthened its position in the state.
On the other comments on Samajvadi party, INDI alliance partner, by Congress leaders saying that it has no base in Harayna seemed to have backfired among the OBC voters.
