Chopal’s Mission Polybrick: 55 Quintals of Plastic Waste Collected for Model Garden.

Chopal: The Chopal subdivision has made significant progress in managing plastic waste through *Mission Polybrick*, converting 55 quintals of plastic into polybricks in just 11 weeks.

Led by BDO Vinit Thakur, this initiative aims to tackle plastic pollution by repurposing waste into usable materials for a model garden project, set to begin in October.

The polybricks will be used to develop a garden near the Chopal Block Office, inspired by Chandigarh’s Rock Garden.

This sustainable project is not only a solution for waste management but also a symbol of the community’s efforts toward environmental conservation.

Top contributors were recognized, with *Bamta Village* collecting 295 kg of waste, *Tikkri* 255 kg, and *Gorli Madavag* 240 kg. BDO Thakur honored these groups, praising their efforts in reducing plastic waste and contributing to the community.

The mission, launched on June 27, 2024, mobilized around 7,500 women from 85 village organizations.

These women filled bottles with non-biodegradable waste like wrappers and packets, creating polybricks for use in construction projects such as benches and walls.

Plastic waste poses a significant environmental threat, taking thousands of years to decompose.

Mission Polybrick offers a creative solution by turning waste into useful materials, raising awareness, and setting a model for rural areas on how to manage plastic pollution effectively.
