SHIMLA: Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur has hailed the decision of Centre Government for clearing AGNIPATH scheme for recruitment of youth in the Armed Forces. About 46 thousand Agniveers would be recruited this year under the scheme, giving boost to employment opportunities.

He said that AGNIPATH is a visionary scheme which would provide a unique opportunity to the youth to serve the country and contribute towards Nation Building.

Chief Minister said that Himachal Pradesh is known as Veer Bhoomi and many sons of soil were giving their services in Armed Forces. This scheme would further encourage several youths of the state and country to serve in Armed Forces.

It will also enhance the availability of trained personnel to boost national security in times of external threats, internal threats and natural disasters and make the profile of Armed Forces more youthful and dynamic.

Jai Ram Thakur said the customised monthly package under the scheme would be Rs. 30 thousand for first year, Rs. 33 thousand for second year, Rs. 36500 for third year and Rs. 40 thousand for fourth year.

Besides this, the Seva Nidhi of approximately Rs. 11.71 lakhs would aid the Agniveers to pursue their future dreams without the financial pressure. The scheme would also provide opportunity for Agniveers to train in the best institutions and enhance their skills and qualifications.

He said that the scheme provides a holistic approach as it would also ensure adequate re-employment opportunities for those returning to society and would emerge as role models for other youths.
