Shimla: Dehradun is  on the brink: Traffic Chaos and Trash Crisis are becoming unmanageable every day.  Dehradun is dooming. Civil society groups sound its residents to wake up, before it is too late.

This gliding city  in the foothills of the Himalayas, is teetering on the edge of an urban catastrophe.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has vowed to "develop Uttarakhand as a Developed state,  but with no compromise on its ecology and environment".

However he has to put his words into action on the ground zero making some beginning from Dehradun itself, demand citizens.

SSP Dehradun had proposed "odd and even traffic plan" to keep the  city going. But nothing has come out so far.

As you travel from one corner to other area of the, you  bump into  in a relentless vortex of traffic pandemonium and a burgeoning waste crisis, both of which are rapidly spiraling out of control.

Because of massive influx of two wheelers and  cars  most of the time is in a gridlock.

President of the SDFC, Anoop Nautiyal, has issued a fervent plea to the city's residents, urging them to confront the twin demons of woeful waste management and nightmarish traffic snarls that grip Dehradun with an ever-tightening stranglehold.

Yet, the disconcerting reality is that neither the municipal authorities nor the state government and its associated agencies appear inclined to devise a solution to alleviate the congestion and dispose of the garbage that now plagues even the most affluent neighborhoods.

What's particularly distressing is the lackluster response from political leaders and officials, who seem to have acquiesced meekly to these challenges.

Without a substantial infusion of resources, pragmatic action plans, renewed determination,  this crisis is poised to escalate, threatening the very fabric of this city.

The state of waste management in Dehradun, including the shocking state of "Gau Matas" in some of the city's most prestigious areas, paints a grim picture. They are feeding on plastic and their fate is imminent.

Tragically, this plight is not confined to Dehradun alone; countless places across Uttarakhand are mired in a similar state of neglect, as streets remain awash with refuse.

It's a distressing and disheartening spectacle.

While concerned citizens frequently voice their grievances in the public arena, there seems to be a deafening silence when it comes to sustained engagement and commitment from authorities to resolve these intertwined civic crises.

The clarion call now reverberates to every resident of Dehradun: it is incumbent upon us to raise our voices and demand resolute action against the abysmal urban mismanagement that threatens to push our beloved city to the precipice, said citizens.

We must exert moral pressure on the government to initiate a comprehensive series of genuine interventions, a collective effort that can usher in progress and instigate much-needed civic improvements.

Dehradun's fate hangs in the balance; it's time for its residents to make a resolute choice before the city reaches a point of no return.
