The Election Commission of India (ECI) has enforced a complete ban on the conduct and dissemination of exit polls from 19th April to 1st June 2024," said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Himachal Pradesh Maneesh Garg.
This crucial measure aims to uphold the integrity and fairness of the ongoing General Elections to the Lok Sabha and Legislative Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim, alongside the bye-elections in 25 Assembly constituencies across 12 States."
In a statement released by Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Himachal Pradesh, Maneesh Garg said that the prohibition extends to the publication or publicity of exit poll results through both print and electronic media channels."
This decision underscores the Election Commission's commitment to ensuring a level playing field for all candidates and parties, safeguarding the democratic principles of transparency and fairness," Garg said.
The ban on exit polls serves as a reminder of the responsibility shared by all stakeholders in upholding the sanctity of the electoral process.
