SHIMLA: Himachal Pradesh is gearing up for 'Samarth-2023,' a two-week campaign from October 1st to 15th, to raise awareness and build capacity for disaster readiness.

The goal is to make sure people are prepared for disasters, said DS Rana, who heads the state disaster management authority.

During this event, exceptional individuals, organizations, and NGOs who have shown great courage and helped the government during recent disasters like monsoons, floods, and landslides will be recognized and honored.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu will present these awards at the Gaiety Theatre.

Their dedication is important because it motivates others to join in disaster management and make our communities safer, Rana said.

Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments are asked to identify and nominate those who have made significant contributions during these natural disasters.
