SHIMLA: Pradesh Congress President, Cabinet ministers and prominent leaders gathered at Sadbhavna Chowk in the capital city today to pay tribute to the late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 79th birth anniversary, observed as Sadbhavana Divas.
The event saw dignitaries including Health and Family Welfare Minister Colonel Dr. Dhaniram Shandil, Industries Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, and Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mohan Lal Brakta, among others, offering floral tributes to the statue of Rajiv Gandhi.
Notable figures in attendance included MP Lok Sabha and State Congress President Pratibha Singh, MLA Theog Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Mayor Municipal Corporation Shimla Surendra, Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal, former MLA Adarsh Kumar Sood, and former MLA Rakesh Singha. Councilors and common persons also joined in paying respects to the late Prime Minister.
The occasion was marked by artists from the Information and Public Relations Department who presented bhajans and patriotic songs, adding a cultural touch to the proceedings.
Sadbhavana Divas is celebrated annually on August 20th to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
