SHIMLA - Himachal Pradesh has taken a significant step towards environmental protection by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oil India Limited for the production of green hydrogen.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced this during the 'Enviro-Ideation Hackathon' organized by the Himachal Pradesh State Pollution Control Board.
The state government has been committed to finding alternatives to single-use plastic and has imposed a ban on it since 2009.
The move towards green hydrogen production aligns with the government's efforts to promote sustainability and combat climate change.
Chief Minister also highlighted other initiatives aimed at revitalizing the economy, improving education, and integrating technology into governance.
Cash prizes and certificates were awarded to winners of the hackathon, encouraging innovative solutions for environmental challenges.
