SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, today handed over the 780 MW Jangi Thopan Powari Hydro Power Project to HP Power Corporation Ltd. (HPPCL).
In addition, HPPCL will also take on two more projects: the 1630 MW Renukaji and the 270 MW Thana Plaun Pump Storage Hydro Electric Projects.
On the education front, the Cabinet elevated SCERT Solan as the top institute for teacher training in the state, alongside strengthening 12 District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs). The focus here is to improve teacher training and, ultimately, educational standards across Himachal.
In the health sector, they greenlit setting up 50-bedded Critical Care Blocks in Civil Hospitals at Dehra (Kangra) and Paonta Sahib (Sirmaur). These facilities will come equipped with modern care units to cater to emergencies and critical patients.
Moreover, the government is also filling up 100 vacant positions for Assistant Forest Guards and plans to open a new police station at Sissu in Lahaul-Spiti, along with other administrative posts to support the state's law and order.
Additionally, the Cabinet gave its nod for the creation of six Mobile Forensic Vans to aid the Department of Forensic Services, further boosting crime-solving capabilities in the state.
These decisions mark another step towards infrastructural growth, law enforcement, and educational advancements across Himachal Pradesh.
