Himachal Pradesh Police Step Up with High-Tech Gadgets for Better Public Safety
SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh police are stepping up their game with advanced digital tools to maintain law and order.
Thanks to a World Bank-sponsored road safety project and funding from the Department of Transport, the police force is now better equipped to tackle cybercrime, drug trafficking, and road safety issues.
High-Tech Traffic Management
The state boasts 66 Integrated Traffic Management Systems (ITMS) on its highways, which help monitor traffic, catch violators, and issue challans. This year alone, these systems detected 97,660 traffic violations, raking in ₹2.43 crore in fines.
Modern Tools in Action
Traffic cops are using Alco sensors and speed guns regularly to keep roads safe. In Shimla, the Traffic, Tourist, and Railway Unit has kicked off a 10-day drone operation training at Bharari. Fifteen young, tech-savvy constables are being trained by ASI Sandeep Chauhan.
Building a Tech-Savvy Force
The Himachal Pradesh police are focusing on boosting their tech skills across all areas of policing, said Narbir Rathour, ASP TTR.
With these new initiatives, they aim to become a high-tech, modern force dedicated to public safety and efficient law enforcement.
