Himachal Cabinet Extends Age Limit for Police Recruitment and Approves Major New Hiring Across Departments... Homesteads and Tourism will be bridaled in Himachal....

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has approved a one-time relaxation in the upper age limit for the recruitment of 1,226 constable posts.

Now, general candidates aged 18-26, SC/ST, OBC, Gorkhas, and distinguished sportspersons aged 18-28, and Home Guards aged 20-29 can apply.

In addition, the Cabinet sanctioned the creation and filling of over 6,630 new posts across various government departments:

-Education Department: 6,297 Early Childhood Care and Education Tutors.

-Health and Family Welfare Department

200 Medical Officers and 22 posts for Professors, Associate Professors, and Assistant Professors in medical colleges, including those at Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Government Medical College, Nahan; Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Government Medical College, Ner Chowk, Mandi; and Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru Government Medical College, Chamba.

- Tanda Medical College: 8 Casualty Medical Officers.

- **Chamba Medical College**: 5 Assistant Professors and supporting staff, including nurses, operation theatre assistants, and technicians, to operationalize Trauma Centres.

- **Himachal Pradesh Administrative Tribunal**: 84 various posts.

- **Town and Country Planning Department**: 13 posts for Four Lane Planning Areas.

- **Youth Services and Sports Department**: 4 Youth Organizers.

Direct recruitment of Group C posts under state government, public sector undertakings, boards, corporations, and local bodies will now fall under the H.P. Rajya Chayan Aayog.

Administrative expansions include establishing a Superintendent of Police Office and Superintending Engineer Public Works Department at Dehra in Kangra district, and an Electrical Division at Haroli in Una district, with notifications pending due to the Model Code of Conduct.

Two Cabinet Sub-Committees were formed: one under Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan to streamline Home Stays and boost tourism, and another under Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri to recommend resource mobilization strategies.

The Cabinet also reviewed the state’s issues with forest fires, drought, water scarcity, and monsoon advancement but did not outline specific strategies to address these challenges.
