SHIMLA: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) through the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) is hosting the 10th National Conference of Women in Police (NCWP) at Peter Hoff in Shimla on August 5 and 6.
As many 300 participants are expected to take part in this conference being hosted here by NCWP in association with the Himachal Pradesh Police.
DGP Himachal Pradesh Sanjay Kundu said National Conference of Women in Police is organized biannually by the BPR &D in collaboration with various States since 2002.
The Conference provides a platform for lady police officers across ranks (Constable to DGP) from all over the country to share their experiences.
The police officers would discuss women- specific service condition issues.
They will showcase the achievers among women police officers.
The women officers and researchers will also share best practices to address crime against women.
They will suggest measures to enhance work life balance during the conference.Conference gives a platform for women police officers to enhance their leadership qualities and abilities to help them in their career.
Conference will conclude with a policy paper that will be followed by the Central Government and the State Governments.
The first Conference was held in 2002. It was inaugurated by LK Advani, the then Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of India.
As the Conference became a biennial event the governments took several women-central measure at various level.
The toilets and restrooms for women in each Police Station were constructed across the country.
DGP said as per the past practices, the Conference is inaugurated by the Union Home Minister and attended by Supreme Court Judges, Women Ministers in the Union Cabinet among other dignitaries.
He said around 300 women police officers and personnel from States/UTs and Central Police Forces are expected to participate in the event.
He said it is a matter of pride for the State of Himachal Pradesh and HP Police to host this prestigious Conference.
“We hope to make the Conference a success and a memorable experience for all participants”, he said.
