ITANAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a whirlwind tour of four northeastern states, where he inaugurated projects worth Rs 55,000 crore and addressed the crowd with a scathing attack on dynastic politics, particularly targeting the INDIA Alliance, which includes the Congress party.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi emphasized his commitment to the development of the region, stating, "A national festival of developed India is going on at a fast pace'.
"Today I got the opportunity to become a part of 717 participants from all the states of the North East in this festival of developed North East."
He commended the participation of thousands of individuals from Arunachal, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura in the development pledge.
Highlighting the achievements of his government in the region, Modi proclaimed, "Projects worth more than 55,000 crore rupees have been inaugurated or had foundation stones laid today.
"Thousands of families in Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura have received tap connections and pucca houses."
He also underscored his government's focus on infrastructure development, including water, roads, rail, schools, hospitals, and tourism. "Modi will not rest till people get all these", he said.
Furthermore, Modi announced the initiation of the Unnati scheme aimed at promoting industrial development in the Northeast, with a significant emphasis on job creation and economic growth. He assured full support to the youth of the region, promising assistance in various fields such as startups, technology, home stays, and tourism.
However, notably absent from Modi's speech was any mention of the troubles in Manipur, which has recently seen political instability. Instead, the Prime Minister focused on highlighting the progress and achievements of his government in the region, while criticizing the INDIA Alliance and dynastic politics.
As Modi concluded his address, he urged the crowd to join him in celebrating the ongoing development efforts, encouraging everyone to participate by turning on the flashlights of their mobile phones.
Modi also enjoyed elephant safari in the Kaziranga national park before he addressed the rally.
Prime Minister also unveiled a stunning 84-foot statue of Lachit Borphukan, a famous general from the Ahom Kingdom of Assam.
The Prime Minister's tour came ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections queering pitch in Northeast by striking a personal chord with the people.
