Kangra Police Assures Safety Measures After Gruesome Assault on College Student
Dharamshala: In response to the shocking assault on a 21-year-old college student at the Palampur Bus Stand, Kangra Police under the leadership of SP Shalini Agnihotri has swiftly taken action.
A criminal case has been registered under sections 307, 326, 341, and 323 of the Indian Penal Code at the Police Station Palampur.
The victim sustained severe injuries to her hands, arms, and head.
Thanks to the prompt assistance of local residents, she was initially rushed to Civil Hospital Palampur and later transferred to RPGMC Tanda and PGI Chandigarh for further treatment.
The latest updates indicate that she is on the path to recovery.
The accused, identified as a 28-year-old MPW employed in the PWD Department in Massal, Nagrota Bagwan for the past eight years, has confessed during interrogation.
It was revealed that he had been in contact with the victim for six years through social media and mobile communication.
His actions were triggered by discovering that the victim had been communicating with another individual for the past three years and had recently blocked him on all platforms.
SP Shalini Agnihotri emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, "The accused's actions are reprehensible, and we are conducting further interrogation to ascertain all relevant details."
She assured that Kangra Police is committed to ensuring the safety and security of women.
Addressing the issue of misinformation spreading on social media, SP Agnihotri stated that the cyber cell unit is actively monitoring the situation.
She warned that strict legal action would be taken against those spreading rumors or misinformation in connection with the case.
Further investigations into the matter are underway, with the police pledging transparency and accountability at every step.
