IIT Mandi Wraps Up International Conference on Cutting-Edge Chemistry Research...charts new green growth and sustainable waste management..

MANDI: IIT Mandi recently hosted the successful International Conference on Fundamental and Advanced Research in Chemistry (FARC-2024), which concluded on a high note. The event, dedicated to the latest breakthroughs in chemistry, saw participation from researchers across the globe.

This year’s conference gathered around 300 participants, featuring 54 eminent speakers, including six international experts.

The event provided a platform for knowledge exchange in areas like advanced materials, synthetic organic chemistry, and sustainable waste management.

Prof. Chayan K. Nandi, Chair of FARC-2024, expressed pride in the turnout and quality of discussions. Despite the logistical challenges of hosting such a large event in Mandi, he noted the conference's success and announced plans to make it a biannual event, with the next edition slated for 2026.

Keynote speakers, including Prof. Frank Jülicher from the Max Planck Institute, praised the high-quality science presented and the opportunity for interdisciplinary exchange. Prof. Bhuvanesh Gupta from IIT Delhi highlighted the event as an ideal hub for collaborative scientific endeavors.

The three-day conference included 160 poster presentations and talks from renowned scientists like Prof. Amit Meller from Technion, Israel, and Prof. F. Ekkehardt Hahn from the University of Muenster, Germany.

The conference also led to fruitful discussions among participants, fostering new research partnerships. A special collection from Wiley, focusing on FARC-2024, will feature in journals like Chemistry – An Asian Journal and Asian Journal of Organic Chemistry, with contributions from conference participants.

IIT Mandi’s FARC-2024 has set a benchmark for future conferences, reinforcing its commitment to advancing chemical sciences.
