CM Sukhu at a review meeting with police officers of law and order in HP in Shimla

SHIMLA/CHAMBA - In response to a recent case of blind murder involving a Dalit Hindu boy, the District Collector of Chamba, Apoorv Devgan has imposed Section 144 in the Sanghani Kihar of Salooni sub-division today for 60 days  amid allegations levelled by BJP that the gravity of situation demands a thorough investigation by NIA as the main culprits are not being brought to justice.

This step is taken as a precautionary measure to prevent any potential communal flareup in the area.

Locals enraged by the incident set the house of the main accused Shabir on fire even as there was No one in the house.

The murder case came to light when the Chamba police discovered the mutilated body of Manohar Lal in a drain five days ago.

Following their investigation, three suspects, identified as Shabir Ali, Shaukat, and Muzaffar Hussain, have been arrested in connection with the crime.

The police suspect that a "love affair" might be the motive behind the murder, but the investigation is still ongoing. There are allegations that there is terror angle in the love jihad case. But the police under the Congress government is in  a denial mode so far.

The ghosts of Satrundi terror attack of the past  are haunting Salooni  which has a sizeable Muslim population in Chamba district as it borders the terror-infested region of Jammu and kashmir and BJP is demanding NIA investigation into the case to pin down the Sukhu government.

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has appealed for peace and assured the public that the police investigation is actively progressing. He conducted a virtual meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police to review the law and order situation, specifically regarding the Salooni incident in Chamba district.

The Chief Minister asserted that  the police has been  maintaining strict vigilance to uphold law and order in their respective districts.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretary Home Bharat Khera, OSD to the Chief Minister Gopal Sharma, ADGPs Satwant Atwal and Abhishek Trivedi, IGP Santosh Patial, Principal Private Secretary to the Chief Minister Vivek Bhatia, and other senior officers.

Leader of Opposition Raises Concerns over Chamba Murder Case

Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur expressed deep concern during a press conference today regarding a serious case in Chamba district. He revealed that a young man named Manohar, belonging to a Hindu Dalit family, went missing on June 6, 2023. Sadly, his body was later found in a drain, with eight body parts recovered from a sack.

Thakur said the gravity of the incident called for a thorough investigation from the National Investigation Agency(NIA).

He also questioned certain suspicious aspects surrounding the main accused and urged for transparency in the case.

Jai Ram Thakur plans to visit the victim's family tomorrow, accompanied by State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal.
