Shimla: In an effort to quell growing dissent within the Congress ranks in Himachal Pradesh, the Sukhu government has named Shahpur MLA Kewal Singh Pathania as the chief whip of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP).
This move follows closely on the heels of the recent appointments of Nand Lal and Bhawani Singh Pathania, indicating a proactive approach by the government to shore up support within the party.
The political scene in the state remains fluid, with the Supreme Court scheduled to hear the plea of the six disqualified Congress MLAs on Monday.
Currently, these MLAs, along with three independents, are stationed in Uttarakhand, eagerly awaiting the outcome of the court's decision.
Meanwhile, the Sukhu government is in full firefighting mode, as tensions simmer within the Congress party. To address the growing divide between the government and the party, Congress has established a coordination committee. This committee aims to bridge the gap and foster better communication between the two entities.
On the other side, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has maintained a strategic silence, keeping its cards close to its chest. Observers speculate that the BJP is biding its time, waiting for the opportune moment to make its move amidst the ongoing political upheaval in Himachal Pradesh.
