Traffic man managing traffic mess in Shimla at peak tourist season

SHIMLA- As the capital city remains stuck in a grid lock for hours long traffic jams, District Magistrate Shimla Aditya Negi today issued an order making the Sanjauli-Nav Bahar Chowk via Directorate of Horticulture and Deepak Project Mess Marg One-way for traffic for one month on a trial basis.

The Shimla traffic police have failed to regulate the  ever-increasing traffic inflow in the city caused by  the tourist season.

It took two hours from Cart Road to reach Sanjauli today, resented residents as all claims of Shimla police have failed to deliver.

The traffic police have to manage 3000 vehicles in two hours time between 8 am to 10 am at Victory Tunnel in the city.

The traffic police stop vehicles coming from Kufri side and Dhali side unnecessarily at Wildlfower Hall near Chharabra that result in long traffic jams on the Fagu-Kufri-Chharabra-Dhalli road.

The commuters and farmers are paying dearly to the traffic mess created by the tourists in the Shimla-Kufri tourist circuit as they get stuck for hours in the traffic jams daily.

As per the order, there will be one way traffic from Nav Bahar Chowk towards Deepak Project Mess from 8 am to 10 am.

It would be one  way from Deepak Project Mess towards Nav Bahar Chowk from 4:45 pm to 6:30 pm, said the DM order issued today..
DM said if any person has objection to this arrangement, he/she  can register objection in writing in the District Magistrate's office within 30 days.

Further on the Kufri-Theog road, the commuters get stuck in another series of jams at Theog where the NHAI has yet to raised the retaining wall in the sunken portion of the road in Theog town.

The commuters going to Chopal get stuck between the Chaila- Parala Mandi road stretch due to the widening of the road. If the widening and repair works are not complete in this month the situation will get worse due to the coming apple season and the monsoons.
