Shimla: In a chilling incident that has sent shockwaves through the capital city of Shimla, a young man Manish, aged 21 was brutally attacked by unidentified assailant in the early hours of Monday.
The assault occurred at around 2 am right in front of Police Reporting Room, right on the bustling Mall Road, known for its high security measures.
Manish, who was working in a nearby restaurant Zero on The Mall, was viciously assaulted by the attacker.
According to source the accused has been identified and he hails from Haryana.
Despite his desperate cries for help as he barged into the Control room in frigid cold for help, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC).
The policemen on duty at the nearby Police Control Room rushed to his aid, but their efforts to save him proved futile as he bled profusely to death.
Manish hails from Kothi Maalat village in Chopal Subdivision was working in the Zero Cafe in front of the Reporting Room.
The assailant managed to flee the scene, leaving the authorities grappling for answers.
A frantic investigation has been launched, with police scouring through CCTV footage in a bid to identify the perpetrators.
He has been identified and belongs to Haryana.
The motive behind the heinous act remains unknown and police suspect that he had entered the restaurant with an intension of robbery.
The weapon used in the crime has been recovered, and a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered at the Police Sadar Shimla station.
However, the incident has raised serious concerns about the security in the heart of the city, casting a shadow of fear and uncertainty over residents and visitors alike.
As the investigation unfolds, residents demand swift justice for Manish and intensified security measures to prevent such tragic incidents from recurring in Shimla's city center.
The residents including family members friends and workers including Former Shimla Mayor Sanjay Chauhan have been staging dharna in front of the Reporting room where the murder took place demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
Chopal MLA Balbir Verma has demanded immediate arrest of the accused and should ensure safety of the citizens and providing immediate relief to the family of the victim.
Later in the evening hours SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi arrived at the sit-in scene and assured the protestors that the different police teams are on the job and soon the accused would be in their custody. But he did not give them the time frame.

The accused was arrested from Chandigarh on Tuesday.
