SHIMLA: The series of landslides struck the area between Shimla and Narganda near Shilaroo, resulting in the closure of the National Highway beyond this point. While Three people were killed near Sharan Dhank on July 17 and the Tikkar-Nakhari road closed for traffic.
The entire road stretch collapsed, causing a car to plunge into a khad.
Tragically, all three occupants of the vehicle lost their lives in the unfortunate incident, sending shockwaves in the area.
In response to the situation, Shimla police have issued an advisory, urging travelers to take an alternative route when visiting Rampur and other places towards Mandi and Bilaspur.
Meanwhile, the Kingal-Basantpur road has been closed at Swankyar, adding to the transportation challenges in the region. (See Police advisory for alternate routes)
The news of the road accident and the landslide has prompted Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to express his deep condolences to the bereaved families and urged PWD and NHAI to restore roads.
He has directed the district administration to provide swift and necessary relief to those affected by these distressing incidents.
