The court has directed trial courts across the state to refrain from insisting on the registration of FIRs (First Information Reports) for cases already reported on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP).
This directive comes in response to the prolonged delays and inconveniences faced by victims when seeking the release of funds frozen or withheld due to cyber fraud incidents. Previously, victims were required to file FIRs separately, leading to unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles.
Under the new instructions, trial courts are mandated to expedite the release of funds to victims based on the complaints lodged on the NCRP, accompanied by an action taken report submitted by the respective Cyber Police Stations.
This streamlined approach aims to provide swift relief to affected individuals and facilitate the efficient resolution of cybercrime cases.
Expressing gratitude on behalf of the Himachal Pradesh Police, the Director General of Police (DGP) commended the Hon’ble High Court for its proactive stance in addressing the challenges faced by cyber fraud victims.
The directive is expected to empower citizens to seek recourse through the designated portal, ensuring a more accessible and responsive mechanism for combating cybercrime in the state.
