The disaster claimed over 330 lives and caused extensive damage. Citizens, including a pensioner and a 15-year-old, have donated ₹61,000 and ₹51,000 respectively, highlighting their compassion.
The calamity, the worst in 50 years, ravaged infrastructure and property. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu swiftly acted and established the Aapada Raahat Kosh-2023, receiving ₹163 crore in contributions to aid the distressed.
Religious institutions, social organizations, state governments, and even government employees have pitched in.
The Shaktipeeths located in the state also contributed towards the noble cause. Mata Shree Chintpurni Trust donated rupees two crore, Shree Jwalamukhi Temple Trust gave Rs. 5 crore besides Tara Devi Temple Trust, Sankat Mochan and other temple trusts have also contributed towards this.
Apart from this, Rajasthan government gave Rs. 15 crore, Karnataka Rs. 15 crore, Chhattisgarh Rs. 11 crore, Tamil Nadu Rs. 10 Crore and Haryana Rs. 5 crore.
An online portal facilitates donations, making it easy for people to contribute.
Chief Minister Sukhu expressed gratitude, emphasizing that this support would help the state recover from the disaster.
