The decision comes in the wake of unpredictable climate patterns that have posed a serious threat to farming in Himachal Pradesh.

Sukhu emphasized the urgency of this upgrade, citing the recent monsoon devastation that severely impacted the farming community, causing substantial losses. Currently providing current weather information and a five-day forecast, the enhanced "Meghdoot" app will feature strengthened early warning systems, empowering farmers to prepare for adverse weather conditions well in advance.

The application will also deliver more accurate expert advisories related to crops, enabling farmers to respond effectively to impending challenges. Furthermore, efforts are underway to integrate beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme into the "Meghdoot" app.

Sukhu underscored the State Government's commitment to supporting its agricultural and horticultural communities, acknowledging that approximately 90 percent of the state's population is associated with agricultural activities.
