Kasol, June 7: In a startling development that has left many locals questioning the writ of the state in the Parvati Valley, organisers of a controversial rave festival have allegedly created a de facto "rave kingdom" near Grahan village where private bouncers and hired goons, rather than law enforcement agencies, appear to be calling the shots.

Sources on the ground claim that a large contingent of bouncers has been deployed around the venue to keep locals, tourists and curious onlookers away from the site.

People attempting to photograph or record activities in the area are reportedly being stopped, raising serious questions about who is exercising authority in this remote Himalayan landscape.

The scene unfolding beyond Kasol has prompted residents to ask whether state laws still matter in parts of the Parvati Valley.

While ordinary villagers struggle with permissions for roads, construction and development activities, organisers of the rave event appear to have established a heavily guarded festival zone deep inside an environmentally sensitive area.

Preparations for the gathering are reportedly continuing at full speed. Massive speakers are being installed, infrastructure has been erected and participants are expected to begin arriving in large numbers.

Sources say the rogue rave  fest is already taking shape despite concerns over environmental violations, drug abuse and public safety.

Locals allege that the organisers are behaving as though they operate above the law.

The deployment of private musclemen has only reinforced perceptions that a parallel authority structure has emerged around the event site.

The controversy is particularly significant because the venue lies along the route leading from Kasol to Grahan, an area known for its pristine forests, mountain streams and trekking routes.

The region has also been repeatedly linked with illegal rave parties and narcotics-related activities over the years.

Anger is growing among sections of local residents who are asking how such a large-scale event can be organised without attracting immediate intervention from authorities.

Questions are also being raised about the role of the district administration, police and political leadership, with critics demanding a clear explanation on whether any permissions have been granted and who is responsible for monitoring the site.

For many residents, the issue goes beyond a single party. They see it as a larger test of governance in the Himalayas—whether public institutions or private event organisers ultimately control ecologically fragile mountain landscapes.

As of Sunday evening, preparations at the site were reportedly continuing and the anticipated rave gathering appeared set to proceed, making this one of the most closely watched developments in the Parvati Valley this season.

This is a developing story and further updates are awaited.
