Shimla, Dec 28: The Resident Doctors’ Association (RDA) of Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, on Sunday withdrew its indefinite strike with immediate effect after receiving assurances from Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu regarding a detailed enquiry into the recent incident at IGMC and revocation of the termination of Dr Raghav Narula.

In a press note issued on Sunday, the RDA said the assurance was given by the Chief Minister during a meeting with the association earlier in the day. Trusting the word of the Chief Minister, the RDA office bearers announced the withdrawal of the strike “in larger public interest”.

The association said it would fully cooperate with and remain vested in the proposed enquiry till the termination orders against Dr Narula are formally revoked. The RDA also announced that it would hold a further meeting to decide the future course of action on January 3, 2026.

Thanking resident doctors across Himachal Pradesh and the country for their solidarity, the RDA expressed gratitude to the Himachal Medical Officers’ Association, SAMDCOT, Medical Teachers’ Associations and other bodies for extending support during the agitation.

The decision brings immediate relief to patients, as medical services at IGMC Shimla are expected to return to normal following the withdrawal of the strike.
