Shimla, August 23:

The project, built at a cost of ₹13,756 crore, is equipped with supercritical technology to ensure higher efficiency and lower emissions.
Once fully operational, it will generate nearly 9,829 million units of electricity annually, with 85% of the power earmarked for Bihar under a long-term agreement.
The PM had laid the project’s foundation stone in March 2019. The project used over 2.5 lakh MT of steel and 2.8 lakh tonnes of cement, giving a push to domestic industries under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
During construction, nearly 5,000 workers were employed every year, most of them locals, creating direct and indirect jobs and spurring growth in small businesses, transport, and services.
SJVN CMD Bhupender Gupta, Power Secretary Pankaj Aggarwal and senior officials joined the inauguration, while employees across India and Nepal witnessed it live.
SJVN, a joint venture of the Centre and Himachal Pradesh, began with the 1,500 MW Nathpa Jhakri hydro project and has since expanded into thermal, solar, wind, and power trading.
