BENGALURU : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said he did not see spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s words as praise for him, but as a reminder that much more work still needs to be done for India.
Addressing a gathering during his visit to the Art of Living in Bengaluru, Modi struck an emotional and humble note, saying he was where he is today because of the blessings and guidance of “Gurudev”.
“I do not feel Gurudev has praised me. He has only allotted me more work for India,” the Prime Minister remarked, drawing applause from the audience. He further said that whatever position he occupies today is because of the inspiration and support he has received from Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
The Prime Minister met the spiritual leader at the Art of Living campus and held detailed discussions on several issues, especially the organisation’s social and humanitarian initiatives. Modi praised the Art of Living for its contribution in areas ranging from mental wellness and education to rural development and environmental awareness.
Prime Minister appreciated Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s “passion towards furthering societal good” and acknowledged the organisation’s efforts in serving society through various initiatives.
Later, Modi also shared details of the interaction on social media describing the meeting as “excellent” and highlighting the work being undertaken by the Art of Living.
The meeting once again reflected the close association between the Prime Minister and the spiritual leader, with both emphasizing service, nation-building and social transformation through collective efforts.
