Sunni, March 1 – Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Friday announced
that ₹350 crore is being invested in development projects across Shimla Rural.
“Infrastructure upgrades are in full swing—roads, water supply, and civic amenities are being overhauled,” he said at Government College Sunni’s annual prize distribution ceremony.
Sunni Gets Major Infrastructure Push
A ₹25 crore drinking water project is underway to ensure supply to all seven wards of Sunni Nagar Panchayat.
“Basic facilities are being fixed at a fast pace,” Singh stated. Another ₹5 lakh has been allocated to upgrade the town’s drainage system.
He also directed officials to draft an estimate for the college’s boundary wall and announced staff quarters construction.
“A video projector for academic purposes will be provided soon,” he added.
Academic Excellence Recognized
Praising the college’s progress since its 2006 inception, Singh said, “It has already secured third place in the state—an impressive feat.”
College principal Dr. Anjali Chauhan presented the annual report, emphasizing student achievements. “We are committed to fostering academic excellence,” she said.
Singh also awarded 156 meritorious students for their academic and extracurricular achievements.
The event saw attendance from senior officials, educationists, and local representatives, including former principal Dr. Ramlal Sharma, BDO Basantpur Sparsh Sharma, ITI Principal Gulab Singh Thakur, and SJVNL MD Vipul Thakur.
