Shimla – BJP state spokesperson Chetan Bragta has launched a scathing attack on the Sukhu-led Congress government, accusing it of allowing apple prices to crash to unprecedented lows, leaving growers in deep distress.
Bragta pointed out that apple prices have plummeted by a staggering ₹1,000 to ₹1,500 within just two days, a drop never seen before.
He blamed the government's negligence and lack of control over the markets, allowing traders to exploit the situation and buy apples at dirt-cheap prices.
"This kind of price drop suggests collusion," Bragta said, demanding immediate government intervention to stabilize prices and ensure fair compensation for growers.
He also criticized Congress ministers and MLAs from apple-growing regions for their silence on the issue, questioning their commitment to the promises made in their election manifesto.
"Where is the Congress's fifth guarantee now? Apple growers deserve answers," Bragta asserted.
Bragta contrasted the current situation with the previous BJP government, praising former Horticulture Minister Narendra Bragta for setting benchmarks that benefited apple growers.
"The BJP's legacy in supporting apple growers is clear, unlike the empty promises of the Congress," he said.
