Kangana Ranaut and her co-film makers Seek Immediate Release of Controversial Film ‘Emergency’ Amid Legal Hurdles
SHIMLA: In a fresh twist to the ongoing saga surrounding Kangana Ranaut’s highly anticipated film *Emergency*, the Mandi Lok Sabha MP and Bollywood star and Co film makers have approached the Bombay High Court, seeking the film’s immediate release.
The film was to be released on September 6 but the censor board has not issued the certificate to Emergency.
There are are critics who said that certain scenes including assassination of the PM Gandhi and Delhi riots etc in the film need to be censored.
Ranaut being a BJP MP has added fuel to the fire as BJP has been raising Emergency time and again to browbeat the Congress in poll arena.
Ranaut, who directed and starred in the film, has reportedly faced numerous obstacles in getting the project cleared by the censor board and other regulatory bodies.
Despite her position as a BJP MP, she claims in a TV show that the process has been fraught with delays and bureaucratic red tape.
*Emergency* is a political drama that delves into the turbulent period of India’s history during the 1975 Emergency, imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
