Modi's NDA Scores Hattrick Victory Amidst Mixed Reactions..
SHIMLA/NEW DELHI: In a historic and nail-biting finish, the BJP-led NDA has secured a third consecutive term in the Lok Sabha elections.
However, their signature "400 paar" campaign promise fell short, with the BJP winning 240 seats and the Congress managing to secure only 99 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing a subdued crowd at BJP headquarters, declared, "People have placed their faith in NDA for a third consecutive time! This is a historical feat in India’s history. I bow to the Janata Janardan for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to keep fulfilling the aspirations of people. I also salute all our Karyakartas for their hard work. Words will never do justice to their exceptional efforts."
Despite the victory, critics have been vocal about the results. Opposition voices claim that the BJP's and Modi’s dispirited show at the BJP HQ signals a sense of defeat. “They felt defeated but are desperately trying to show that they are in control. It was mostly to ensure that their NDA allies accept Modi as the PM. It can’t be assumed that they will. They & the RSS have no love lost for Modi who has sidelined all in his megalomania,” a critic remarked.
The NDA, with 295 seats, edged past the opposition coalition ‘INDIA’, which garnered 231 seats.
