Shimla: A National Lok Adalat was organized on September 14, 2024, across all courts in Himachal Pradesh
under the patronage of Chief Justice Mamidanna Satya Ratna Sri Ramachandra Rao and with the guidance of Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Executive Chairman of the Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority.
The Adalat focused on settling pre-litigation and pending cases.
To make things easier for the public, an online payment facility for motor vehicle challans through ePay (eCourts Digital Payment) was provided, particularly in traffic courts. People were made aware of the Lok Adalat through SMS, jingles, and distributed materials, with the help of local bodies, NGOs, Panchayati Raj Institutions, para-legal volunteers, and public transport services.
An impressive 107,759 cases were taken up before different benches, out of which 64,631 were successfully settled. A total amount of ₹104.50 crore was recovered or awarded during this Lok Adalat.
The Himachal Pradesh State Legal Services Authority expressed its gratitude to the print and electronic media for their support in making the event a success.
