Chetan Bragta with Police in kotkhai

FIR Filed After Social Media Post Labels Nati Performers as Terrorists, Sparks Outrage in Upper Shimla.

Kotkhai, Shimla: In a shocking and deeply offensive move, the social media account "@TeamSaath" has come under fire for a post that equated performers of the traditional 'Nati' dance during the sacred "Jagra" festival with terrorists.

The outrageous comment has ignited a firestorm of anger in Himachal Pradesh, especially in the upper Shimla district, where the Nati holds immense cultural and religious significance.

BJP spokesperson Chetan Singh Bragta wasted no time and lodged an FIR today at the Kotkhai police station, demanding strict legal action against those behind this shameful act.

“Calling our traditional dancers terrorists is not just an insult to our culture but a blatant attempt to disturb the harmony of our society. This won't be tolerated,” Bragta stated.

The offensive post, now widely condemned, is available on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) at the link https://x.com/TeamSaath/status/1834823863055614396. People across the region have expressed their outrage, as such an attack on the Nati dance—a staple of religious festivals like Jagra—feels like a direct assault on the identity and spiritual fabric of the local communities.

"The sacred traditions of Devbhoomi Himachal, especially Nati, aren’t just dances—they’re a celebration of our heritage, our beliefs.

Equating them to terrorism is not only offensive but an outright provocation. We will ensure those behind this post face the full force of the law," Bragta asserted.

The people of upper Shimla, known for their pride in their cultural traditions, are up in arms, demanding immediate action against those responsible for this derogatory comment.

With tensions running high, the local police have assured swift investigation and action.

Authorities are calling for calm, urging the public to not escalate the situation further and to let the law take its course.

“This isn’t just about one post; it’s about the respect for our culture.

We won’t let such divisive forces succeed in their attempt to disturb the peace in our state,” Bragta concluded in his statement.

As the investigation unfolds, it's clear that any disrespect towards the rich traditions of Himachal Pradesh will face heavy backlash from both the people and the law.
