Scott Sports Joins Hands with HASTPA to Launch India's First MTB Racing Team
SHIMLA: IN a boost for mountain biking in India, global bike giant Scott Sports has teamed up with HASTPA (Himalayan Adventure Sports & Tourism Promotion Association) to launch the country’s first professional MTB racing team.
This collaboration aims to groom young talents to bring home medals and put India on the global mountain biking map.
HASTPA, the brains behind Asia’s oldest mountain biking race, Hero MTB Himalaya, has been a trailblazer in promoting the sport across the country.
With Scott Sports—renowned for its Olympic-winning teams—providing state-of-the-art equipment worth INR 15 lakhs, including high-end carbon racing bikes, helmets, and other gear, the new team is set to blaze a trail.
The team, named Scott HASTPA Racing, features three young talents: Yugal Thakur (17) and Rajbir Singh (20) from Himachal Pradesh, and Aayush Negi (17) from Uttarakhand.
These riders, already national champions, will receive top-notch training and participate in major international competitions.
HASTPA President Mohit Sood says, “Our ultimate goal is to produce an Olympian in Mountain Biking from India.”
This partnership marks a giant leap forward for mountain biking in India, inspiring a new generation of athletes and setting the stage for international success.
