Shimla, November 26: Shimla is gearing up to make this year’s Winter Carnival the ultimate tourist magnet.
Slated to start on December 24, the carnival promises a cultural extravaganza with a dash of Christmas magic—and who knows, maybe even a white Christmas to top it off.
Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap isn’t leaving any stone unturned to make this event a grand success.
Today, in a high-level meeting with officials, he outlined plans to turn the carnival into a festive spectacle.
From showcasing the vibrant culture of all 12 districts of Himachal to hosting performances by artists from across the country, this year’s carnival is being designed as a cultural delight for visitors.
Kashyap emphasized the draw this event holds for Christmas tourists. “Millions come to Shimla during Christmas, and the Winter Carnival will be the highlight of their visit,” he said.
The city will sparkle with festive lights, and traditional Bajantari bands will greet tourists at every entry point, setting the mood right as soon as they arrive.
Each day of the carnival will spotlight one district’s unique cultural heritage on the main stage, coupled with other engaging activities.
Kashyap also revealed plans to hold discussions with the Hotel Association to ensure seamless facilities for tourists, while the Road Safety Cell will use the platform to spread awareness on safe driving practices.
The meeting saw participation from key officials, including Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma, ADM (Law & Order) Ajit Bhardwaj, and Joint Director of Language and Culture Manjeet Sharma.
With its promise of lights, music, and Himachali traditions, the Shimla Winter Carnival is all set to become the perfect Christmas getaway for visitors. And if the weather gods oblige, a snow-covered carnival might just be the cherry on top.
