Forest Department’s Attempt to Evict Family in Jubbal Halted by Public Protest: Sanjay Chauhan Demands Immediate Action
Shimla: In a dramatic turn of events, an eviction attempt by the Forest Department in the Jubbal area of Shimla district was thwarted by public resistance on Saturday.
According to reports, the department tried to lock a family out of their home despite failing to produce any legal documents to justify the action. The intervention of local residents prevented the eviction from being carried out.
Speaking on the issue, Sanjay Chauhan, State Secretary of the CPM and Convener of the Joint Kisan Front, strongly condemned the incident.
“The Forest Department is carrying out illegal evictions across the state without following proper procedures. This is a direct attack on the rights of lakhs of poor families in Himachal Pradesh,” Chauhan stated.
He further demanded that the government immediately halt all such eviction drives and formulate a concrete policy to safeguard the homes of vulnerable families.
“Instead of harassing the poor, the government should provide relief to those living under constant threat of displacement,” Chauhan added.
The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and activists, who have called for greater accountability and transparency in the Forest Department's actions.
Hashtags like #KisanEktaZindabad and #KisanAndolan have been trending, highlighting the growing support for farmers and marginalized communities fighting against displacement.
