SHIMLA: The Queen of Hills has thrown open her snowy gates for the first-ever White Winter Carnival, promising a magical Christmas and New Year celebration.

Starting December 24, the five-day event on The Mall and The Ridge is a perfect blend of cultural extravaganza, snowy thrills, and festive cheer.

Shimla has transformed into a winter field with  fresh snowfall blanketing the city and its surrounding hubs.

Iconic landmarks like The Ridge and The Mall Road are glowing with festive lights, while cultural programs, Himachali cuisines, and live performances set the tone for a memorable winter getaway.

The carnival highlights the diverse culture of Himachal, with traditional dances, music, and the much-anticipated crowning of the Winter Princess.

Nearby hotspots like Kufri, Narkanda, and Mashobra, now blanketed in snow, are ready to welcome tourists.

A Snow Lover’s Paradise

Shimla’s charm extends beyond the carnival. Upper areas like Khirki and Charki have received over a foot of snow, while Manali, Lahaul-Spiti, and Kinnaur are also basking in their snowy glory.

For apple farmers in Shimla, Kinnaur, and Kullu, the snowfall has brought much-needed relief, ensuring a healthier crop for the upcoming season.

Ride the Kalka-Shimla Heritage Train

Adding to the festive magic is the Kalka-Shimla heritage train, which winds through snow-covered oak forests. Running daily until February 28, this UNESCO-listed narrow-gauge marvel is a highlight for tourists seeking a unique and picturesque winter journey.
