Shimla: In a scathing rebuke to the budget presentation in the Vidhan Sabha today, BJP's Leader of Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, minced no words as he accused Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and the Congress government of deceit and manipulation.
Thakur lambasted the budget, labeling it as the Congress government's second attempt at hoodwinking the people of Himachal Pradesh. He declared that the Chief Minister's blatant lies and unfulfilled promises have shattered the trust of the populace, asserting that such tactics would no longer deceive the public.
Highlighting the lack of relief for any section of society, Thakur criticized the absence of measures for employee welfare despite assurances.
He also condemned the Congress government's mishandling of loans, emphasizing their staggering borrowing spree, which he claimed broke all records.
Thakur derided the government's failure to fulfill promises, particularly regarding milk pricing and the closure of institutions.
He accused the Sukhu administration of selective relief distribution, alleging favoritism towards their own party members.
Thakur outrightly rejected the budget, citing widespread dissatisfaction among various sectors, including unemployed individuals and aggrieved employees protesting delayed salaries.
