Traffic Police Himachal Pradesh

Shimla: In a  move  ensuring the safe and  hassle free movement of tourists in green corridor of Kiratpur-Manali Manali and Lahaul-Spiti, the Himachal Pradesh government has established three Traffic Tourist Police Stations (TTPSs) in the Mandi zone.

These stations, strategically located in Baghed of District Bilaspur, Nerchowk of District Mandi, and Bhunter of District Kullu, are set to play a pivotal role in managing traffic and providing assistance to visitors navigating through the region's scenic routes.

The decision to establish these specialized police stations comes amidst a surge in tourist footfall, particularly during the holiday season and festive occasions like Christmas and New Year.

The Atal Tunnel Rohtang, a popular attraction renowned as the world's longest tunnel at an elevation of 10,000 feet, witnessed a remarkable influx of over 65,000 tourists during the recent festivities, highlighting the growing popularity of Himachal Pradesh as a preferred tourist destination.

The primary objective of the TTPSs is to ensure the smooth and safe movement of traffic along the Kiratpur-Manali National Highway, which traverses through the districts of Bilaspur, Mandi, and Kullu.

Equipped with trained personnel and modern facilities, these stations will be instrumental in handling traffic congestion, conducting investigations, and providing timely assistance during road accidents.

Deputy Inspector General of Traffic Tourist and Railway, expressed gratitude to the government for its proactive approach in establishing these dedicated police stations.

He emphasized the crucial role played by the TTPSs in enhancing safety measures and facilitating a seamless travel experience for both locals and tourists.

The duties assigned to the TTPS personnel include deploying patrols at tourist hotspots, ensuring swift response to incidents of road rage, curbing criminal activities, and providing assistance to tourists in distress. Additionally, the stations will serve as reporting points for tourists, offering information on local attractions, transportation, legal assistance, and emergency services.

Furthermore, the TTPSs will collaborate with relevant authorities to address immigration issues, regulate tourist guides and agencies, and facilitate foreign currency exchange services. They will also play a key role in registering and investigating road traffic accidents along the Kiratpur-Manali National Highway, ensuring prompt action and support to victims.

With the establishment of these Traffic Tourist Police Stations, the government reaffirms its commitment to promoting tourism while prioritizing the safety and well-being of visitors.

As tourists continue to flock to the enchanting landscapes of Himachal Pradesh, these specialized stations are poised to become vital guardians of public safety and hospitality in the region.
