IIT Mandi Launches Unique M.S. and PhD Programs in Music and Musopathy
MANDI, 5th July 2024: Starting this August, IIT Mandi is offering new M.S. and PhD programs in Music and Musopathy, blending music, health, and technology.

These courses, part of the Centre for Indian Knowledge System and Mental Health Application (IKSMHA), will explore how music can benefit mental and physical well-being.
They cater to both full-time and part-time students, available in-person, online, or hybrid, regardless of location.
Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, IIT Mandi’s Director, emphasized the program’s focus on the science and therapeutic value of Indian music.
This research-based education aims to create experts in music’s positive impacts on health.
Renowned figures like Dr. Sonal Mansingh, Prof. Trichy Sankaran, and Dr. Gautam Desiraju, along with Mr. Chitravina N Ravikiran, have shaped this program.
Ms. Sowmya Acharya from Acharyanet.com lauded the collaboration, highlighting its blend of arts, science, and wellness.
Graduates will have diverse opportunities in music, research, academia, and wellness, equipped with skills for innovative roles.
