Ladakh 1959 Remember in shimla

Shimla/Leh, October 21 – The spirit of the 1959 Hot Springs martyrdom in Ladakh came alive once again as Himachal Pradesh Police paid a solemn tribute to the CRPF bravehearts and all police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty, during the Police Commemoration Day Parade held at the Vigilance Headquarters in Shimla on Monday.

The ceremony was presided over by Director General of Police (DGP) Ashok Tiwari, IPS, and attended by senior officers from various districts, battalions, and special units of Himachal Pradesh Police.

The parade was led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Umeshwar Rana, who presented the ceremonial salute to the DGP. Contingents from the 1st India Reserve Battalion (Bangana), 3rd India Reserve Battalion (Pandoh), and the Armed Police Battalion (Junga) participated with discipline and dignity.

The Roll of Honour, containing the names of police personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in 2025, was brought to the memorial with full ceremonial respect. Wreaths were laid by the DGP and senior officers at the Police Martyrs’ Memorial as the police band played the patriotic tune “Ae Mere Watan Ke Logon.”

The ceremony concluded with the observance of two minutes of silence, the playing of the “Last Post,” and the flag being raised to full mast, symbolizing courage, sacrifice, and dedication to duty.

Paying homage to the fallen heroes, DGP Ashok Tiwari said,

> “The sacrifice of our martyrs inspires every police officer to uphold the values of honesty, courage, and service. Their dedication reminds us to serve people with compassion and commitment. Today, we bow to their unflinching bravery and pledge to carry forward their proud legacy.”

Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 in memory of ten CRPF jawans who were martyred at Hot Springs, Ladakh, in 1959 while defending India’s borders.

Since independence, over 36,000 police personnel across the country have laid down their lives in service to the nation — their valor and devotion continue to inspire generations of police officers across India.
